The shelf life of the Testa capsules is at least 2 years after production date, if stored at temperatures between 15 - 25 °C. Other manufacturers usually have 3 years of shelf life, but Testa uses the strictest safety standards.  Multiple production runs each year and the use of an air-tight blister package ensures the best possible freshness of the capsules. We also add more vitamin E than other algae oil producers. Vitamin E is known to prevent oxidation. You can find the expiration date (month + year) on the back of the blister next to the batchnumber.

We recommend storing your Testa product at room temperature between 15 - 25 degrees Celsius, just like other oils. A higher temperature means shorter shelf life, but within limits the products must be resistant to it.

Testa does everything to protect the product from oxidation:

- We add up to 4 times as much vitamin E (antioxidant) to Testa EPA + DHA;

- Unlike the majority of our algae oil competitors, we produce small batches throughout the year, which means we always have a fresh products at our disposal;

- In contrast to the majority of our algae oil competitors, we use air-tight blister packaging, therefore each capsule is well protected against external influences.

Can I still take Testa capsules when stored too hot/cold?

Yes. In the worst case, shelf life is slightly lower. So make sure you consume the product well before the expiry month.

Can I store my Testa capsules in the fridge?

Rather not. Even if you live in a warm area we advise not to store the product in the refrigerator.

If you store the product in the refrigerator, the product may become cloudy because the oil crystallizes.

The capsules smell, taste or look different than what I am accustomed to

Algae oil is a natural product and due to the nature of the oil, some variability in the clarity of the product has been observed. Upon prolonged storage at refrigerated temperature conditions, some semi-solid material may appear in the oil. This is not expected to negatively impact the quality of the product, but the oil should be well mixed to re-suspend this material prior to use.

Because fish gets their omega-3 from consuming algae, the smell and taste of fish and algae oil are interrelated.
